How Teaching Makes Me a Better DJ
Hey Party People!
Being a 5th-grade teacher isn’t just my day job—it’s also the foundation of what makes me an exceptional DJ for private events. You might not think there’s much overlap between managing a classroom and rocking a party, but the skills I’ve honed as a teacher translate seamlessly into the world of event entertainment.
Skills That Bridge Teaching and DJing
Teaching has equipped me with essential skills such as adaptability, patience, and strong communication. Although, one of the skills that DJing taught me that translates to teaching is reading a crowd. Not only do I DJ for crowds, but I also view the classroom as a crowd. I have to read the students’ energy to gauge whether or not my teaching is effective in that moment. Whether I’m shifting gears in the classroom to keep students engaged or reading the energy on a dance floor to keep the party alive, my ability to connect with people shines through. Managing a room full of energetic kids has taught me the importance of maintaining control and staying calm under pressure, while years of communicating with parents translate into confidently collaborating with clients to craft the perfect event experience.
The Perfect Balance
My dual roles complement each other beautifully. Teaching keeps me sharp, organized, and connected to people of all ages, while DJing allows me to unleash my creativity and bring joy to others. In addition, with my summers free, I have the flexibility to dedicate myself fully to DJing, ensuring my clients get the best of my energy and focus during peak event season. Combining the skills of a teacher with the creativity of a DJ, I know how to connect with any crowd, and that is what makes me stand out from the rest. Reach out today, and let’s plan an event that keeps everyone talking long after the last song!
